John Paul DeJoria
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
John Paul Mitchell Systems
John Paul DeJoria’s rags-to-riches biography exemplifies the American dream – he is a first-generation American turned entrepreneur, philanthropist, government servant, and pillar of the business community. John Paul DeJoria has struggled against the odds not only to achieve success, but to share this success with others.
DeJoria is the co-founder and CEO of John Paul Mitchell Systems, a top manufacturer of salon-only professional hair care products that has been serving the professional beauty industry for 25 years. It all began in 1979, when John Paul DeJoria and Paul Mitchell first decided to launch their professional hair care system around a revolutionary new styling method – hair sculpting, and a revolutionary new styling product – Hair Sculpting Lotion®. By 1980, they had established a partnership with a borrowed $750.00 which eventually became known as John Paul Mitchell Systems®.
The company currently produces over 90 products (including the brands Paul Mitchell, Modern Elixirs™, The Tea Tree Collection, Paul Mitchell LAB™, Paul Mitchell Pro Tools, PM SHINES™ and Paul Mitchell the color™). John Paul Mitchell Systems products are sold through 25 distributors within the United States to approximately 90,000 hair salons. Internationally, John Paul Mitchell Systems works with distributors in 65 countries that supply thousands of hair salons. The company does not test its products on animals nor has it ever tested its products on animals. In accordance with John Paul DeJoria’s motto, ‘Success unshared is failure,’ John Paul Mitchell Systems has a strong commitment to giving back, supporting a wide range of philanthropic causes both domestically and internationally.

Bob Barker
Animal Rights Advocate and Founder, DJ&T Foundation;
Former host, The Price Is Right
Since retiring from The Price Is Right, Bob Barker is devoting much of his time to the DJ&T Foundation which he formed in 1995 to help control the dog population. He donated $5,000,000 to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to underwrite its cost of anti-whaling internationally and a new ship named the Bob Barker. He established endowments for the study of animal rights law at Harvard and seven other prestigious law schools; and is funding two animal related programs at his alma mater, Drury University in Springfield, MO, the first such programs on animal rights at an undergraduate school.
His autobiography, “Priceless Memories,” which details his experiences in the animal rights movement, landed on the New York Times bestseller list within the first two weeks of its distribution.
Bob has been described by the CWC as its most generous benefactor, contributing to its vet’s salary so he can work for CWC full-time; repaving the Center’s driveway, building badly needed outdoor rehabilitation enclosures, two vehicles (one for marine mammal transport and the other for rescue/transport of smaller animals), to name a few significant, DJ&T-funded projects.

California Wildlife Center (CWC), a nonprofit organization, has cared for more than 22,000 native animals since its founding in 1998. It is run by a dedicated small staff and trained volunteers who believe that our wild neighbors deserve a second chance at life. As a result, sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife receive quality medical care and rehabilitation in a quiet area of the Santa Monica Mountains with the intent of releasing them back into the wild.
Our goal for this event is to raise $200,000 to fund the free services and programs CWC provides, including paramedic rescue and rehabilitation for more than 2,400 animals each year, and co-existing with wildlife education to Southern California residents.Your contribution to this event will make a difference for wildlife now and in the years to come.
